Can I receive workers’ compensation if my employer did not cause my injuries?

If you were injured on the job, you are entitled to workers compensation even if your employer did not cause your injury. There are state-protected workers compensation rights for every state. You are covered by the state for injuries sustained on the job even if the injury was caused by someone with no connection to your employer. Every employer must have insurance taken out to cover such circumstances if they ever arise. As such you are still entitled to coverage if the injury took place on the job site.

If someone else caused the injury you may be able to bring a suit against them in addition to workers compensation.
